An association which includes nine provincially funded women\u2019s shelters as well as several affiliate members working on the area of family violence. MAWS was created to provide: support to member shelters; increased negotiating abilities with funders; shared information and resources; increased public awareness, training of staff and improved services for clients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Crisis Line: 1-877-977-0007<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alphahouseproject.ca\/\"><strong>Alpha House<\/strong>.<\/a> Alpha House provides long term living for women and their children who have left abusive situations. Residents live in Alpha House for up to nine months while participating in one on one, children\u2019s counselling and support groups. Phone: (204) 982-2011. <a href=\"\/mailto:executivedirector@alphahouseinc.ca\"><strong>E-mail<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.entretempsfm.com\/\"><strong>L\u2019Entre-temps des Franco-Manitobaines<\/strong><\/a> is a non-profit second stage housing facility that provides women recovering from an abusive relationship \u2013 and their children \u2013 with protective housing for up to one year.\u00a0 L\u2019Entre-temps is a domestic abuse recovery program that assists women in regaining their independence.\u00a0 Here women receive the safe, supportive environment they require for their emotional healing.\u00a0 Phone: (204)<br \/>\n925-2550. <a href=\"\/mailto:dg@entretempsfm.com\"><strong>Email.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ikwe.ca\/\">Ikwe Widdjiitiwin<\/a><\/strong>. Ikwe Widdjiitiwin\u2019s mission is to address the needs of women and their children who are abused \u2013 sexually, physically, or emotionally, and to develop programs to meet these needs, in a culturally appropriate manner, in order that they are empowered to make decisions affecting their own lives. Crisis Line: 1-800-362-3344.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nativewomens.mb.ca\/\"><strong>Native Women\u2019s Transition Centre<\/strong><\/a> is a long-term residence that provides care for up to 21 Aboriginal women and children who are struggling to make life changes. The Second Stage Housing facility, Memengwaa Place, is an independent living program for Aboriginal victims of family violence and residents of Native Women\u2019s Transition Centre wanting to make the transition back into the community. It provides seven full suites, an on-site support worker and security features. Phone: (204) 989-8240 Intake: 998-8244 or 989-8251.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newcentre.org\/\"><strong>North End Women\u2019s Centre<\/strong>.<\/a>\u00a0 NEWC\u2019s decision to expand its community-based programs to include transitional housing for chronically homeless single women suffering mental illness was an innovative approach to service delivery in mental health services. Potential tenants are selected from NEWC clients and women referred by agencies in the Selkirk Avenue area.
