Programs tied to the Tenant\u2026<\/h5><\/div>

Do you have low income tenants that are struggling to make payments?\u00a0 They may be eligible for Rent Assist<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rent Assist<\/a><\/strong> (formally Manitoba Shelter Benefit or RentAid) is a monthly benefit to help low income families and individuals, as well as people receiving income assistance (EIA).<\/p>\n

If you are not on Assistance (EIA) and pay more than 28% of your income on private rental housing, then you may be eligible for Rent Assist. School Tax Assistance for Tenants 55+<\/strong>. \u00a0 Rebates available for income-tested tenants over the age of 55 to offset the school tax portion of rent costs.\u00a0 If you are at least 55 years of age and have a household income of less than $23,800, then you are eligible for annual rebates of up to $175, payable once a year.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The provincial government will enter into agreements with owners\/operators of private rental stock<\/strong><\/a> to subsidize a portion of the units in the rental property.\u00a0 The Rent Supplement program is targeted at low-income families, elderly and special needs households to obtain affordable, adequate and suitable housing in the private rental sector and in non-profit affordable housing projects.\u00a0 The province subsidizes the difference between the approved market rental rate charged by the landlord and the rent-geared-to-income (RGI) paid by the qualifying tenant.
